Singapore

Sep 12

Yesterday was an interesting day. Obviously it took forever to get to Changi, but once I was there, customs and immigration was a breeze. I quickly got my bag, and taxi’d to my hotel. I stayed at the Duxton Reserve, and they gave me a pretty “suite” upgrade. It’s a former shophouse converted into a hotel room. Two floors and all. It was like 1am, so I zonked out pretty much immediately.

Around lunchtime I woke up for real, and walked over to a hawker center. There I had some chicken rice, which was pretty good. I don’t see it as the “Michelin grade” restaurant it’s sold as, but it’s a cheap solid meal. The hype was just a little too high.

From there I went back and took a nap, woke back up around 6pm, where I got an espresso martini from the lounge, and followed it up with a city walk from Clarke Quay along the Singapore River all the way to Marina Bay Sands. There I took in the very impressive view of the city (which is used as a stock background on my work PC!), and watched the Spectra light show.

After that, I went to “Satay Street,” or Lau Pa Sat. There I just went stall to stall, eating an irresponsible amount of skewers, and drinking Tiger beer.

After that I went home. All in all, a 10/10 day. Singapore is great.
