Siem Reap, day two

Sep 25

Angkor Wat day. I woke up super early to catch a 4:30am bus to the temples. We were there in time for sunrise, but rain was pretty heavy, so the sun didn’t fully come out until well into my trip. It was still quite a sight though, and I kind of expected a ton of rain in SEA during peak rainy season.

The temple was really cool, and not overly busy. I got to spend a couple hours touring it.

From there, we moved on to Ta Prohm, which is overgrown. Think old stone temples with trees growing through them. Apparently it was used in the Tomb Raider movie, but honestly I can’t remember. The tour guide was very proud of the movie for whatever reason.

After that we went to Ta Nei. This one was a bit smaller, but demonstrated what the temples looked like without the restoration efforts the others have gone through.

Bayon was our last stop. This one is known for its faces, and had a bunch of monkeys running around.
