Bangkok, day three

Sep 19

Yesterday I walked down to the temple district and toured Wat Pho. The reclining Buddha was fun to see, and I did the 108 coin ritual. Apparently it’s for good luck, and it can’t possibly hurt.

From there I attempted to tour the Grand Palace, but there was an event for the 100-day national mourning of one of their queens. Since that was going on, I couldn’t tour the palace, and even navigating to the subway turned out to be impossible.

Fortunately a tuk-tuk driver appeared and got me back to my hotel for a few hundred baht. Not a bad trade.

In the evening I wandered around my soi, and even went as far as Soi Cowboy. I didn’t do much there — just hung out for a beer and did some people watching. It’s an interesting district to say the least.
