Bangkok, day seven

Sep 23

Last day in Bangkok. I already had most of my stuff wrapped for the day, so it was mostly just wrapping up the few items left in my list. After hotel breakfast, I took the train over to Jim Thompson’s house. I didn’t know much before visiting, but he was an American with a CIA past that relocated to Thailand post-military, and reestablished the silk industry here. He disappeared under mysterious circumstances too. The house was at least interesting to visit.

Khlong boats and the covered pier, Jim Thompson House.
Spirit house with marigold garlands, Jim Thompson House.
Teak house, open shutters, Jim Thompson House.

Once night rolled around, I visited Chinatown, got some snacks, and wandered my way back to my hotel, stopping at some Soi 22 pubs on the way.

Yaowarat at night, rain on the street.

I wrapped it up at the AB bar, where I started in Bangkok. Overall a really great stop. I would happily return.

Night skyline from the hotel, UOB tower.
